In Reply To Excellent price...how much for rotors when time to replace? (n/m) posted by dpjax on July 23, 2005 at 07:59 PM

Message I wanted them to be lower in price, but they don't come "off the shelf". They get machined for the hub center as well as the OD... literally, that is my price from the machine shop-- I won't mark them up.

From a business standpoint, that's backwards. I should make money on the rotors since they get consumed, but realistically, most people will still have the original set before they sell the car, and some may go thru one extra set in the entire life they own the car, and the racers, well, they should be used to buying rotors by now ;-)

While other replacement rotors from other "budget kits" can be had for less, I felt the benefit of the fitment of the kit--and it's overall low cost outweighed the extra rotor cost.

If you price out a 3000GT kit, buying brackets at $250- $299 (I suppose there must be cheap copies by now), rotors at about $100 each + ship, then 15mm hub-centric spacers ($100), and Nismo studs ($80) as well as the installation of the kit, including pressing all your studs out and pulling new ones in, it gets expensive.

we shall see what people think.
